Superyacht Times reveals how OceanXplorer is getting ever closer to being delivered following successful sea trials over the past month.
"The luxury expedition yacht OceanXplorer is nearing delivery in the Netherlands after a successful series of sea trials over the past month. Filming on a six-part documentary, Mission: OceanX, will begin on board next month where National Geographic, Director James Cameron and the BBC will follow prominent scientists, explorers and filmmakers in the natural history world in a “breathtaking” new style of reality storytelling. On her maiden voyage, OceanXplorer will head to the Indian Ocean.
"Following an intensive rebuild project at Damen that lasted two years, the ship once known as Volstad Surveyor has been transformed into “the most advanced research and media vessel on the ocean” according to OceanX. Along with Gresham Yacht Design, OceanXplorer was developed by some of the most experienced expedition mariners and studio production designers to facilitate some of the most ambitious ocean research and underwater film-making projects in the world."
